The Universal Barcode
QR codes (Quick Response codes) were invented in 1994 by a Japanese automotive company to track parts. Today, they're everywhere: restaurant menus, event tickets, product packaging, and even gravestones.
Our QR Code Generator creates static QR codes that encode data directly into the image. Unlike dynamic codes that require a subscription service, these codes work forever and don't track users. Generate, download, and use—simple as that.
What Can You Encode?
QR codes can store up to 4,296 alphanumeric characters. Here are the most common uses:
URLs
The most common use. Point to your website, portfolio, social media, or online menu. Perfect for print ads and business cards.
WiFi Credentials
Guests can connect to your WiFi by scanning instead of typing a long password. Great for cafes, offices, and Airbnbs.
Contact Cards (vCard)
Share your phone number, email, and address. When scanned, it auto-populates the recipient's contacts app.
Plain Text
Encode messages, serial numbers, or instructions. Useful for inventory management and product authentication.
Marketing Campaigns
Put QR codes on flyers, posters, or billboards to drive traffic to landing pages. Track conversions with UTM parameters in the URL.
Event Check-In
Generate unique QR codes for each attendee. Scan at the door for instant verification and attendance tracking.
Product Packaging
Link to user manuals, warranty registration, or tutorial videos. Reduces the need for printed instructions.
Frequently Asked Questions
How small can I print a QR code?
The minimum recommended size is 2cm x 2cm (about 0.8 inches). Smaller codes may not scan reliably, especially if the data is complex or the camera quality is poor.
Can I customize the design?
Basic QR codes are black and white. Advanced tools allow color changes and logo embedding, but be careful—too much customization can reduce scannability.
What if my URL changes?
Static QR codes cannot be edited after creation. If your URL might change, use a URL shortener (like bit.ly) that you control, then point the QR code to that short link.
Are QR codes secure?
QR codes themselves are just data containers. However, malicious actors can create codes that link to phishing sites. Always verify the source before scanning unknown codes.
Static vs Dynamic
Our tool generates static QR codes where data is embedded directly in the image. These never expire and don't require an internet connection to decode. Dynamic codes redirect through a server, allowing tracking and editing but requiring a subscription.
Data Privacy
We do not store the data you encode. QR generation happens entirely in your browser.
